More about why I am teaching these Back to Basics classes:
Over the years I have taught a number of different classes. I have spent the last few weeks culling through the written material I have created over the years in order to prepare for the classes I am planning on teaching in the next year. I realized some time ago that not everyone was ready to take the more advanced courses that I offer, and if I wanted to keep teaching, I needed to fill in the gaps.
I had the apparently mistaken idea that this information was so available, that students could take the classes in their local area. After a number of students told me that they had never taken a Basic Shamanism or Basic Intuition class, I decided it was time to do something about it.
It is interesting to look at the progression of classes I have taught, from how to read the Tarot to Palmistry to The Goddess Way to Exploring the Mysteries of Egypt and Greece. At the heart of each and every class is a desire to connect with Spirit on a regular and daily basis, to receive advice and direction and to develop the intuitive side of life.
Many years ago, I learned of the Hierarchy of Knowledge. It is simple to understand about how we accumulate knowledge: when we start out, we “don’t know what we don’t know”. Once we do a bit of research and study, we move to the position, we “know what we don’t know”. As our education on any subject continues, we “know what we know” and then as we get better at doing whatever it is, we move to where we “don’t know what we know.” The last stage is to move that expertise back into the conscious mind in such a way as to be able to teach it others. I am sure many of you have encountered experts that know their subjects, but can’t teach anyone else. (My memory goes back to some of my worst college professors here.)
In addition to looking at the course material, I have been working on figuring out how I do what it is that I do. You see, after over 50 years of working with my psychic skills, it is hard for me to move from the position of the expert who knows “how” on an intuitive and muscle memory level to a conscious mind, knowing what I know and being able to explain it to others. Any of you who have worked on a computer for a long time will understand this – imagine explaining sending email or how to run a program you are very familiar with to someone who has never seen a computer, much less run one. By moving from “I don’t know what I know” to “knowing what I know and how to teach it” and being able to impart that information to those who “don’t know what they don’t know” allows me to move up the hierarchy of knowledge.
I do know that I want to make the information easily available, and to allow others to develop their skills and talents so that they, too, will have easy access to Spirit. Much of the information currently available on the Internet and in classes is extremely confusing, and some of it is just plain WRONG. Rather than teach you the intricacies of any one tool, what I will endeavor to do is assist you in developing your ability to use any tool to help you make decisions, and as an aid to meditation. You will to learn how to approach these tools from a Spirit-centered way of understanding the information provided. By focusing not on the tool, but on the mind that is viewing the tool, you will have the opportunity to move to a new level of knowledge and expertise – knowing what you know, and being able to relay that information to another. This is my promise to you.
